ReplyDeleteEmily your office is so well organized you have inspired me to get mine done. I wanted to ask you about the soapstone in the kitchen that you installed. I am planning to do the same in my kitchen and was looking at getting the soapstone from Teixeira until I read your entry about your kitchen counter tops and remodel. Does Distinctive Stone Interiors supply the stone cut for all customers who would prefer this option. I am wanting to do the same thing as you did and that is do the finishing and the installation myself. The shipping from Teixeira is pretty expensive and I need about 95 sq feet. Secondly are you pleased with the results having used soapstone for your countertops.
ReplyDeletehmm, i am not sure, you would have to call distinctive stone to see if they would cut the stone for you but not finish it. Honestly it was a lot of work and also we have a pickup truck so we can haul it ourselves, also my husband is a wood worker and so he was familiar with the tools and materials.
ReplyDeleteI am happy with the stone, though we have chipped and scratched it. I would NOT recommend this material, in general, unless you have viewed it and are aware of the downsides. However, having said that, it is beautiful and i love the feel of it.
